Are you out of everything in your makeup and skincare kit, at once?
Its like a phenomenon Ill never understand. You buy things at different times , and all of a sudden…
They are all empty. And you needed your stuff like yesterday.
I don’t know about you , but in the time of corona I am wearing way less makeup (unless I have a virtual meeting,) but I use my skincare the same no matter what. AM & PM.
And its time to shop.
My wallet is a little sad right now, but even when it’s not, I try to use fun ways to get money back when I shop online, because why not?
Check out these 5 creative ways you too can save, while shopping:
1. Use the Sephora.com “Beauty Offers” Section when you order your makeup & skincare.
You may or may not already know this exists, but it’s different from your Sephora points that you earn when you buy. It’s a section I’ll link directly to (because it can be hard to find on the site) and it has rotating promo codes that get you free sample products with nearly every order.
Sephora Tip : I will usually redeem some of my Sephora points AND get a promo code item and when my order comes I FEEL RICH.
Try it. It’s V fun. So many extra little useful things come in the mail.
2. Use money back websites like Rakuten.com
There are a few shopping portals where you search for your store, and click through their link to shop for a percentage of money back on your purchase. I use Rakuten for even more than beauty purchases and have a $50 check coming to me next month 🙂
( It used to be called ebates, and yes its pretty coupon queen-y of me, but a few dollars back is better than nothing, especially if you’re a Sephora VIB rouge and spendin all that cash). I see you.
Rakuten Tip: Department stores usually have a higher percentage return on Rakuten. So, if you’re looking for a specific product and your regular store only has only 1-2 % cash back , try to purchase the product from a larger department store which may have 8%-12% back.
3. Shop for makeup & skin care through Discount Retail / Online stores.
Some of my regular haunts like Nordstrom Rack & Saks Off Fifth have a great selection of beauty products online, usually even better than in the store .
Nordstromrack.com – Usually has brands from Sephora like Kate Sommerville, Kopari, Murad, and even Nest fragrance on sale.
Hautelook.com – an online only deal website launches lots of beauty brands. Today, they are having sales on Milk Makeup , Makeup eraser Towels, and so many more things!
Discount Online Shopping Tip: Don’t forget to also shop through your Rakuten login, or see if these stores are on your credit card portal and shop through there for more savings (info on that below.)
4. Shop through your Credit Card Portal, like Chase Ultimate Rewards & Amex , for more points back on your purchase.
Shopping through your credit card portal is a great way to get more points when shopping for things online (which equals money back.) Like Rakuten, you would:
*Login and go to the credit card portal section
*Search the store you want to shop from
*Purchase with your Credit Card through the portal
Not only will you get the points per dollar for your purchase when using your credit card to buy it, but you’ll usually get a larger points bonus like 3 or 5x the points for shopping thorough a portal like Chase UR.
Its fun, and why not maximize your points game.
Credit Card Portal Tip: Use this website to compare what portals will you give you the most cash back or points for your purchase.
5. And last but not least, keep an eye out for the yearly Tarte “Custom Kit” Sale.
The Infamous Tarte Custom Kit Sale happens 1-2 times a year, and is announced usually the day before through their email and social media. Seems like a very odd way to “save” money but I didn’t want to leave it out , because it really is.
I love tarte and I know a lot of my clients do too.
This sale is unlike most others, because you get 6 full size products (that are still on the shelves) for 70% percent off usually around $63 flat cost .
So the shape tape you use, or the sea salt line you love, usually on sale. Palettes and everything.
I would recommend keeping up with their Instagram, and I shout I out on my Instagram stories every time it happens too. So stay in touch with me over on IG.
Tarte Tip: Last year the sale was in June & November, but who knows what will happen in 2020.
Thats all for now, but I hope these money saving tips will help you to be able to re-stock your beauty and skincare kit more easily.
xoxo,
Brielle
